Stannington Garden Club is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society and visits at least one of the society’s gardens each year. Members enjoyed their October trip to Harlow Carr Gardens at Harrogate where they were especially impressed by a wonderful show of autumn colours in borders and in woodlands.

Stannington Library is managed by STAND (Stannington and District Library Group).

STAND was formed in 2013 after Sheffield City Council announced its decision to close sixteen libraries (including Stannington) unless volunteers took them on. STAND was registered as a charity in 2014 and is funded by grants, donations and fund-raising activities. The library is run by a team of dedicated volunteers.
