Free Half Term Activity 24 October 2023

Many thanks to the Yorkshire Natural History Museum for their fabulous activity.

The children heard all about when giant insects and centipedes roamed in Sheffield.

One of the activities was to draw a life size representation of an Arthropleura - the largest insect ever to have lived. It was 10 feet long!

Our life size representation of an Arthropleura.
Hard at work creating our Arthropleura picture.

We recommend a visit to the Yorkshire Natural History Museum on Holme Lane, Malin Bridge.

STAND was formed in 2013 after Sheffield City Council announced its decision to close sixteen libraries (including Stannington) unless volunteers took them on. STAND was registered as a charity in 2014 and is funded by grants, donations and fund-raising activities. The library is run by a team of dedicated volunteers.
