Lily Harrison had big dreams when she entered Stannington Library’s Disney on Ice colouring competition. Now her dream has materialised and she will be going to see Dream Big, the latest Disney ice spectacular, at Sheffield’s FlyDSA Arena later this month. Library volunteers who judged the competition were especially impressed by the delicate shading techniques Lily used, as well as her choice of colours.

Lily is obviously more than pleased with her prize. Library volunteer Pat Pickering (right) displays the winning picture.

Stannington Library is managed by STAND (Stannington and District Library Group).

STAND was formed in 2013 after Sheffield City Council announced its decision to close sixteen libraries (including Stannington) unless volunteers took them on. STAND was registered as a charity in 2014 and is funded by grants, donations and fund-raising activities. The library is run by a team of dedicated volunteers.
