Stannington Library offers the following services for Library Members:

Book loans from Stannington Library's Yellow Sticker Collection - (click the link to search our Yellow Sticker catalogue). We have a large collection of adult and children's books. The Yellow Sticker Collection is a mix of brand new books, purchased just for Stannington Library, and quality donated books.

Reservation of books from Stannington Library's Yellow Sticker Collection. If a book is out on loan we can reserve it for you - call in or phone and speak to a volunteer. When the book is back in the library we will contact you, then put it on the Reserved Items shelf ready for collection. Sadly you cannot currently log in to the online catalogue yourself to manage your account - but hopefully soon!

Book loans from the Sheffield Libraries stock stored in Stannington Library - (click the link to see the Sheffield Libraries catalogue and choose Stannington Library in the drop down menu).

Reservation of any Sheffield Libraries stock held in any library across the city - this includes books, DVDs and CDs. We order the item for you and arrange for it to be sent to Stannington Library. Alternatively you can log into the Sheffield Libraries catalogue yourself, using your library card number and pin number, then arrange for items to be sent to Stannington Library. Reserved items are delivered once a week, usually on Wednesday. They are put on the Reserved Items shelf ready for you to collect. You should also receive an email direct from Sheffield Libraries to inform you the order has arrived.

Access to our Public Computers - We have three Public Computers available to use for free* if you are a member of Sheffield Libraries. You can usually call in to book a 1 hour session immediately, but you can also phone and book a session (01142348732) to make sure there will be one available. All our Public Computers have access to the Internet as well as Microsoft Office programs. We also have a selection of educational programs installed for our younger library users, e.g. Scratch and Kodu. NB: You will need to bring your own headphones to hear sound.

In-house WiFi - available during opening hours.

Printing - you can print from our Public Computers - see costs below.

Photocopying - we offer A4 and A3, Black & White or Colour, single-sided or double-sided - see costs below.

*NB: If you do not have a Sheffield Libraries Card, you can use our Public Computers as a GUEST for a small charge.


Photocopying & Printing Costs

  • A4 Black & White prints cost 10p, double-sided costs 20p
  • A4 Colour prints cost 50p, double-sided costs £1.00
  • A3 Black & White prints cost 20p, double-sided costs 40p
  • A3 Colour prints cost £1.00, double-sided costs £2.00

Please note that we do not have a card reader, so you will need to pay with cash.


Reserved Items

Please locate your ordered items on the Reserved Items shelf - it's in the corner area to the left of the entrance - then take your items to the front desk to be checked out.

Sheffield Library books can also be self checked-out and self checked-in using the Sheffield Libraries machine located in the corner area to the left of the entrance.

Book returns

Please take your returned books to the counter before you browse for new ones, so they can be removed from your library account immediately. You can also self check-in Sheffield Libraries books using the Sheffield Libraries machine.

Number of books that can be borrowed

You can borrow up to 15 books for a 3 week period.


Other services provided at Stannington Library include:

  • The sale of good quality second-hand JIGSAW PUZZLES, ADULT & CHILDREN'S BOOKS and DVDs in the foyer and within the library. There's a great selection for everyone.
  • Hearing Aid Batteries - your free NHS Hearing Aid replacement batteries are available from us.
  • Events - we aim to provide a variety of special events across the year.

NB: All proceeds from sales go towards supporting Stannington Library.

STAND was formed in 2013 after Sheffield City Council announced its decision to close sixteen libraries (including Stannington) unless volunteers took them on. STAND was registered as a charity in 2014 and is funded by grants, donations and fund-raising activities. The library is run by a team of dedicated volunteers.
